심상心象_Own image

여행을 좋아한다는 이를 만났다. 이유를 묻자 그는 새로운 환경을 접하고 그 풍경이 주는 기쁨이 좋아서라고 했다. 그렇다면 나는 늘 여행을 하며 사는 셈이다. 순백의 캔버스 위에 마음 속 풍경을 밖으로 꺼내어 전혀 보지 못했던 새로운 이미지를 창작하면서.

이러한 마음을 표현한 ‘심상心象_Own image’ 시리즈는 첫 눈에는 자연의 한 부분을 나타낸 풍경화로 보이지만, 시점에 따라 여러 인물이 얽혀있는 듯한 장면 혹은 복합적인 색채와 입체적인 구조의 추상회화의 특성도 찾아볼 수 있다. 이 시리즈를 통해 각자 느끼는 감정은 다르지만 바라보는 대상은 같다는 것, 맞고 틀리고가 아니라 서로 다를 뿐이라는 것을 말하고자 했다. 같은 것을 보고 다르게 느끼는 것은 틀린 것이 아니다. 상대가 본 것과 내가 본 것이 다르다면 그 근원이 어디인지 찾아가 보는 여행도 나쁘지 않을 것이다.

‘심상心象_Own image’ 시리즈는 보이고자 해서 그려진 것이 아니라 스스로 보고자 해서 만들어졌다. 슬픔과 아픔도 인생의 한 부분이며 그 속에서 행복이라는 감정을 얻는 길은 스스로에게 있다. 마음이 허락하고 시간이 주어져 감사하는 마음으로 오늘도 행복한 여행을 하며, 그 결과를 사람들과 나누고자 한다. 나에게 가치 있는 일이 다른 이에게도 그럴 것인지 알 수 없지만, 필요로 하는 사람들이 있다면 그것은 또 하나의 행복이 될 것이다.

Own image

I met someone who likes to travel. When asked why, he said that he liked encountering new environment and feeling the joy coming from the scenery. If so, I am a person who travels all the time by taking the scenery inside my mind out to the white canvas and creating new image that I have never seen before.

In fact, ‘Own Image’ series are the expressions of my mind. They look like a landscape painting that depicts a part of nature at a glance. But depending on how you look at them, they are also characterized as an abstract painting on account of the scenes where several persons are mingling around, complex colors, or the cubic structure. With the series, I meant to say that everyone feels differently, but they are looking at the same thing, and it is not about right or wrong but about difference. It is not wrong that you look at the same thing but feel differently. If what others see is different from what you see, it may be good for you to travel to find the reason for it.

I drew ‘Own Image’ series not to show them to others but to see them myself. Sadness and pain are all part of our lives. The way to find the feeling of happiness in it is inside you. As my heart is willing to do it and I have time for it, I am on a happy trip again today with gratitude, and I want to share the product with others. I am not sure if something valuable to me would turn out to be valuable to others as well, but if there are people who are in need, I guess it would be another kind of happiness.
